I recently took a Royal Caribbean trip to some of Europe’s most beautiful places. For 7 days we cruised through stops from Cititavecchia in Italy to Barcelona in Catalonia. Every stop had its own thing that made it worth a visit. If you love some of the finer things in life like me, keep reading for a little peak into our trip!
Setting Sail : A Breathtaking Start to the Trip
We happened to board the biggest cruise ship that Royal Caribbean ever built and it felt just like that. Onboard, there was never a dull moment thanks to the amazing facilities, which included limitless eating options, a relaxing spa, and cute entertainment. Every night we had something new & distinct for dinner.
First Stop: Italy – Rome and Naples
Our first destination was Italy, where we docked at Civitavecchia, the port for Rome. I spent the day exploring the Eternal City Next, we sailed to Naples. My dad encouraged us to go out and get food at a local African joint. My sisters and I were initially hesitant as we didn’t have enough time to check the reviews but we ended up going anyways. To sum it up, the food was amazing.
Second Stop: Spain – Barcelona
Our next port of call was Barcelona, Spain, a city that truly stole my heart. The stunning architecture of Antoni Gaudí was everywhere, from the towering Sagrada Família to the Park Güell. I spent the day walking the streets, seeing the local markets, and soaking in the Barcelona weather.
Third Stop: Spain – Palma de Mallorca
I decided to stay onboard the ship that day and spent the day getting some sleep. Still managed to get some decent photos from the ship.
Final Stop: Italy & France – La Spezia & Marseille
The last two stops on our itinerary were the beautiful region of Provence in southern France and Pisa in Italy. We docked in Marseille, a charming coastal city with a rich maritime history. I spent the day strolling through the Old Port. The next day we finished off in La Spezia, where the famous leaning tower resides! Learning about it as a child and seeing it as an adult felt crazy full circle. One thing I was stunned by was the proximity of the clouds to the roads; it served as the best backdrop for all our pictures.
Final Thoughts
Our cruise offered us an incredible opportunity to experience the best of both worlds—luxury at sea and adventure on land. Finding the right cruise for you requires looking into all the options available. Even though Royal Caribbean was recommended & it was a pretty decent experience, I would have still preferred to look at the other choices before booking in the future.
